CLASS 71 GOLDEN ARROW / NIGHT FERRY

Model Rail Magazine asked us to produce a pack appropriate for use with kits of Electro-Diesel engines and Night Ferry coaches - this was the result. The Class 71, later 73, engines provided modern traction to haul the Golden Arrow and Night Ferry trains towards the end of their days. The 2004 Model Rail issues for the months October, November and December covered building the kits for these trains and detailing the models. The un-lit Hornby Pullmans that are now available in the Railroad range are more like the post 1951 cars than the new illuminated models. The Wrenn models have the square toilet windows of the real cars.
Our bumper pack contains:
- Loco headcodes for "46" and "75",
- Four different designs of locomotive headboard - three metal plates and one wooden board type
- Two of these are reproduced on metallic silver & gold foil labels,
- Sets of gold foil label side arrows,
- Coach side boards for the Golden Arrow,
- Pullman name patches for both Wrenn and Hornby R223/233/4312/4313 un-lit models,
- Fixed flags for the Golden Arrow. (See D1-A for flying flag decals.)
The designs, as usual, have been meticulously matched to photographs of the real articles. Our thanks go in particular, for assistance in providing numerous shots for this, to Terry Bye of the Pullman Society.
