K13-A/B      ALPS/OKI DYE SUBLIMATION UPGRADE BLOCK £24.99/£29.99 We have designed and 3D-printed a plug block or dongle to Dye-Sub Upgrade an OKI DP-5000, ALPS MD-5000, MD-5000i or MD-5500 printer. Just like the rare and now very expensive if you can find one, original equipment "key", this simply plugs in next to the parallel port before you power-on. The design is smaller and neater than the original with a nice label on it to indicate the new feature - it works in basically the same way, connecting five of the pins in the socket together. The self-test page will add "DYE-SUBLIMATION PRINTING" to the list and print a "D" (OKI) or a "P" (ALPS) after the model number, with an extra printing pass that shows the upgrade is in place. After power-on, press and hold the right hand "Ready/Insert" button until the lights flash, then release and press it once briefly to initiate the self-test. To print from your computer, you must load the Dye-Sub specific driver version for your printer - removing any ordinary version already loaded. The ability to print with the Dye-Sub inks is then enabled, while the function of the other ordinary inks is not altered. It opens up the option for "Photographic" printing using the special ink with the dedicated media and fully activates your printer. We offer two colours of plug body, black (shown below) or milky white (above). The white version is a nicer match to the main body work of the ALPS MD-5000i coloured case models, and the ALPS MD-5500 light grey case.
